Students will students will use problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills to select wedding vendors that fit the client's wants and their budget restrictions, by researching local vendors. Students must plan a wedding budget for their clients and create a presentation of the vendors they chose and what they cost. They will then critique each other’s budget to ensure that they followed the couple’s wishes and stayed within budget

Using the case study, “The Importance of an Emergency Plan,” students will read the case study and work in groups to research and discuss the importance of having an emergency preparedness and prevention plan. They will then make a presentation of ideas to the class.

Using the case study, “Farm Frenzy” (See CPALMS Resource ID#219714), students will be able to discuss and identify ways in which selective breeding can affect and impact animal welfare. Students will be given an opportunity to research and discuss the positives and negatives of selective breeding in relation to animal welfare. This is part one of a two part lesson series.

Using the case study, “Presenting Cookies,” students will focus on understanding, identifying, and evaluating “chart junk” in a data visualization. Students will also make recommendations for appropriate design choices to fix the "chart junk, " which will help make the visualization compelling for their audience.

Students will work together in pairs or small groups to research “chart junk” and to develop a list of recommendations for the chart in the case study. Student groups or pairs will then take turns identifying “chart junk” on a centrally located copy of the chart and make a recommendation based on their research to fix the identified problem.

Using the case study, Guilt Trip, students will have a better understanding of market segmentation and how it is not only defined by demographics but also lifestyle preferences. They will also have a better understanding of how their own personality types influence their choices as well as their relationships with others, including their friends. Accordingly, this will further facilitate their understanding of how individual personality traits influence travel decisions, particularly where two or more travelers are involved.

This lesson is part 2 in a series of 3 lessons where students determine a group or cause in need of funding, create a fundraising plan, and present their plan to a “board of directors.” In part 1, students researched and compared fundraising ideas from various sources, including their own experience with fundraising activities or events. Students also researched fundraising rules in the state of Florida to determine the necessary forms and information needed to legitimize their fundraisers. This 5-part student-centered activity places students in the role of a local emergency management team that is tasked by the County Board of Commissioners to develop a County Hurricane Emergency Management Plan (CHEMP). In part 2, student teams will utilize the research they conducted in part 1 to develop part of a County Hurricane Emergency Management Plan (CHEMP). Teams will complete a plan worksheet and upload it along with any relevant attachments to an online collaborative platform for feedback. The teacher’s role will be to facilitate plan development and assist with the document upload process.

This 5-part student-centered activity places students in the role of a local emergency management team that is tasked by the County Board of Commissioners to develop a County Hurricane Emergency Management Plan (CHEMP). In this introduction to Homer's The Odyssey, students will work with peers and technology to determine the elements of an epic hero and the hero archetype. They will analyze how the definition of the hero has changed over time and present their findings through the use of multimedia presentations. In the end, students will be prepared to apply this knowledge to Homer's epic poem.
