bonefish & tarpon trust (btt) is a non-profit dedicated to conserving and restoring bonefish, tarpon and permit fisheries and habitats through research, stewardship, education and advocacy. through science-based approaches, btt works to protect and enhance healthy, functioning flats fisheries and habitats in the western hemisphere, and restore those in decline. the flats ecology curriculum highlights some of btt’s efforts to conserve the flats ecosystem, while using these fascinating fishes as models to teach broader biological concepts. this collection of lessons is full of engaging and challenging readings and activities that will help teachers and students learn about these interesting and important fishes, as well as the habitats they live in and the threats they face.
