In Part One of a two-part series, explore excerpts from the Romantic novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, and examine how the novel reflects important characteristics of the Romantic movement. In this tutorial, you'll find values of the Romantic movement highlighted in the excerpts you’ll read, such as reverence toward childhood, the importance of imagination and solitude, and the celebration of the individual. By the end of this tutorial, you should be able to explain how characteristics of the Romantic movement are reflected in excerpts from the first chapter of Jane Eyre.
