THE STATE OF FLORIDA FLAG AND ITS SYMBOLISM:

Students will discuss the Florida State flag and then create an art piece for the flag using art materials and mediums to complete this integrated lesson plan. Students will learn about the flag of the State of Florida and its nickname “The Sunshine State” and how they symbolize the State of Florida.

Students will create paper masks inspired by traditional African masks and other masks from diverse cultures. This lesson's objective is to teach balance, symmetry and line. Students will also be introduced to the concepts of 3 dimensional objects and sculpture.
