  • A Gift for Jen, Evaluating Forensic Evidence # Using the case study, “A Gift for Jen: How reliable is an eyewitness?” (CPALMS resource ID#222126), students will identify and classify different types of forensic evidence found in the case study. Students will work in groups of 4 to research the appropriate use of the different types of evidence in identifying suspects. The students will complete a chart to classify and evaluate the evidence found in the case study. The students will discuss the evidence from the case study and determine if there is sufficient and reliable evidence to identify Bobby as the criminal and press charges against him for attempted armed robbery. Each group will prepare a digital presentation to share their decision and the reasons to press charges or not , supported by evidence.
  • Employing Databases for Business Optimization # Using the case study, “The Joy of Music,” students will learn to optimize business practices. Students will take a collection of assorted data and turn it into something that can be easily read. The students will create, modify, and manipulate databases in their small groups. The lesson culminates with the students creating a plan with their small group to save a failing business using these databases and presenting it to the class.
  • Health and Longevity Through Lifestyle: Lessons from Elevate Fitness Studio # Using the case study, “Elevate Fitness Studio,” students will compare lifestyle factors that improve health and increase longevity. In small groups, students will research and evaluate the effectiveness of these factors and their impact on health.
  • Planning and Budgeting a Community Fun Run - Marketing # Using the case study, “Planning and Budgeting a Community Fun Run,” students will organize a community fun run, with a focus on the marketing strategies needed to attract participants, sponsors, and community involvement. They will explore how to develop a marketing plan, choose effective promotional strategies, and apply real-world examples of event marketing.
  • Working with Different Cultures and Communities # Using the video case study titled "Working with Different Cultures and Communities," students will discuss how public service and non-profit leaders recognize the role of citizens and communities in non-profit decision making. Students will engage in group discussions and collaborate on a digital presentation for their own non-profit project and involvement of the local community.
  • Go Phish Somewhere Else: Training Employees Against Phishing Attacks # Using the case study, "Go Phish Somewhere Else," and previous research from the lesson, “Go Phish Somewhere Else: How to Avoid Being Phished,” students will work in pairs to create an employee training on phishing utilizing presentation software.
  • Using Computer Technology for Business Tasks # Using the case study, "Who Uses Email Anymore?," students will read the case study and discuss based on a set of discussion questions provided. Students will then create a how-to PowerPoint presentation that explains how to perform business vs. personal related tasks in the workplace such as: how to properly write an email using both BCC and CC, add an appointment to a digital calendar, set up zoom meetings, create a contact group and attach a file to an email.

  • Sharing Meal Planning and Budgeting Strategies With Families # Using the case study, “Dining Out Dilemma: How to Meal Plan and Budget for Busy Families,” students will create a presentation that outlines meal planning, budgeting and comparative shopping strategies and tools, that families can use to save money.
  • Professionalism in the Workplace: A Training Guide # Using the case study, "Training Day: The Importance of Professionalism in the Workplace," students will create a PPT to be used as a training guide for employees on how to be professional in the workplace.
  • Understanding Phishing Emails # Using the case study, “The Repercussions of Inappropriate Uses of Technology,” students will identify the different red and green flags needed to know to understand proper email correspondence. By doing so, they will get firsthand experience of what to look for in safe email correspondence and the repercussions that will occur if these are not followed.
  • Mise En Place # Students will work in small groups to create a video that demonstrates mise en place using a bechamel and alfredo recipe to make in a class lab.

Students will have read chapters 15-21 before this lesson. In this lesson, students will use all evidence gleaned from their reading of the memoir, the graphic organizer and student handout information from the first two lessons, and conduct additional research to create a multimedia presentation.
  • Positive Steps: Using The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens # In this multi-day lesson, students will work collaboratively to conduct brief research and create a presentation on one of the habits, from the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. After sharing their multimedia presentations with the class, students will determine which one is most important to them personally. Students will write a response to explain how that habit can provide a positive personal impact.
