Interesting teaching style - if students have had training on this type of learning style (discovery learning, guided instruction rather than direct instruction) then this lesson will be great to use; however, many students in traditional settings will struggle with trying to learn something they were not directly "taught" and may become frustrated and shut down their thinking. Teachers using this style of lesson must be sure that they do not do the work themselves. Instead, they need to guide the students to formulate the answers themselves and with their group.
This lesson may align with the following Standards for Mathematical Practice:
MAFS.K12.MP.1.1 - Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them
MAFS.K12.MP.6.1 - Attend to precision
