- Identify the value of coins (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters).
- Compute the value of combinations of coins (pennies and/or dimes).
- Relate the value of pennies, dimes, and quarters to the dollar (e.g., There are 100 pennies or ten dimes or four quarters in one dollar.) (1Students are not expected to understand the decimal notation for combinations of dollars and cents.)
Clusters should not be sorted from Major to Supporting and then taught in that order. To do so would strip the coherence of the mathematical ideas and miss the opportunity to enhance the major work of the grade with the supporting clusters.
