This art and civics integrated lesson uses basic color theory (primary, secondary) to reinforce Florida's nickname, The Sunshine State. Students create an oil pastel crayon resist picture of a shining, warm-colored sun in a bright, cool-colored sky!

Students will create paper masks inspired by traditional African masks and other masks from diverse cultures. This lesson's objective is to teach balance, symmetry and line. Students will also be introduced to the concepts of 3 dimensional objects and sculpture.

What is so COOL about my Robot? Warm and Cool Colors

In this lesson students will create works of art using a painted, warm colored background and a cut and pasted, cool colored robot.  This lesson will reinforce warm/cool colors and geometric shapes in a work of art.  Students will demonstrate mastery of sorting and selecting warm and cool colors.
