In groups, students will begin painting their mural which has a clearly defined message and topic on civic participation. They will be expected to provide evidence for their message and employ art and design principles to show depth in the mural. This is Lesson 3 in a 3-part unit integrating civics and art.

Students will analyze, compare and contrast artworks in context, considering economic, social, cultural, and political issues, to define the significance and purpose of art.

Working with Artistic Revision:

Students will create a collage image representing one of the character traits (communicator, risk-taker, caring, open-minded, balanced) and then learn how to redesign and revise.

Podcasting in the Artroom:

Students will create podcasts to communicate about and analyze a body of work (or individual artwork) from a given artist.
