  • Grade Kindergarten Mathematics (#5012020): The benchmarks in this course are mastery goals that students are expected to attain by the end of the year. To build mastery, students will continue to review and apply earlier grade-level benchmarks and expectations.
  • Access Mathematics - Grade Kindergarten (#7712015): Access Courses:

    Access courses are for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. Access courses are designed to provide students access to grade-level general curriculum. Access points are alternate academic achievement standards included in access courses that target the salient content of Florida’s standards. Access points are intentionally designed to academically challenge students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. 

  • Art – Grade Kindergarten (#5001010): Kindergarten art includes exploratory experiences that introduce a variety of concepts and ideas, art and digital media and processes, and the safe use of materials. Students learn art vocabulary, terms, and procedures during the creative process that help them describe and talk about their work.
  • STEM Lab Kindergarten (#5020070): Special Notes: 

    This course offers students an opportunity to deepen science, mathematics, engineering, and technology skills.  The primary content focus will be to expand knowledge of current grade level standards in mathematics and science by applying that content in a real world, hands-on situation involving engineering and technology.  For kindergarten, themes will focus on the investigation of number sense, measurement, geometry, earth science, and physical science concepts.

    Students will participate in various hands-on STEM activities in this supplemental course to assist in the mastery of current grade level mathematics and science standards.

    Instructional Practices 
    Teaching from a range of complex text is optimized when teachers in all subject areas implement the following strategies on a routine basis:

    1. Ensuring wide reading from complex text that varies in length.
    2. Making close reading and rereading of texts central to lessons.
    3. Emphasizing text-specific complex questions, and cognitively complex tasks, reinforce focus on the text and cultivate independence.
    4. Emphasizing students supporting answers based upon evidence from the text.
    5. Providing extensive research and writing opportunities (claims and evidence).

    English Language Development (ELD) Standards Special Notes Section:

  • Access Art Grade Kindergarten (#7701020): Access Courses: Access courses are intended only for students with a significant cognitive disability. Access courses are designed to provide students with access to the general curriculum. Access points reflect increasing levels of complexity and depth of knowledge aligned with grade-level expectations. The access points included in access courses are intentionally designed to foster high expectations for students with significant cognitive disabilities.

    Access points in the subject areas of science, social studies, art, dance, physical education, theatre, and health provide tiered access to the general curriculum through three levels of access points (Participatory, Supported, and Independent). Access points in English language arts and mathematics do not contain these tiers, but contain Essential Understandings (or EUs). EUs consist of skills at varying levels of complexity and are a resource when planning for instruction.

    The purpose of this course is to enable students with disabilities to develop awareness and appreciation of the visual and performing arts. Art instruction includes experimenting with a variety of concepts and ideas in art while using materials correctly and safely to convey personal interests. Students learn to use accurate art vocabulary during the creative process to describe and talk about their work. Observation skills, prior knowledge and art criticism skills are employed to reflect on and interpret works of art. During the creative process, students use accurate art terms and procedures, as well as time-management and collaborative skills.

  • Foundational Skills in Mathematics K-2 (#5012005): This course supports students who need additional instruction in foundational mathematics skills as it relates to core instruction. Instruction will use explicit, systematic, and sequential approaches to mathematics instruction addressing all strands including number sense & operations, fractions, algebraic reasoning, geometric reasoning, measurement and data analysis & probability. Teachers will use the listed benchmarks that correspond to each students’ needs. 

    Effective instruction matches instruction to the need of the students in the group and provides multiple opportunities to practice the skill and receive feedback. The additional time allotted for this course is in addition to core instruction. The intervention includes materials and strategies designed to supplement core instruction.
