What is QuickConnect?

QuickConnect is a software application that you can install on your computer and use to access the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) from your desktop. It connects live to the Florida Standards Database (www.floridastandards.org) and retrieves the up to date information on the standards. It requires active internet connection and works across platforms (Mac, Windows, Linux). QuickConnect is not to be confused with the CPALMS portal that is described on the "Learn About It" section of the website.

How Can I Use It?

This application is designed to be used for a quick and easy way to search and find benchmarks and related information. The application is very small in size and is a very quick way to search for a benchmark number or keyword any time you want or would like to look one up. You will always get the up-to-date information.

What Is In This Version?

QuickConnect is currently a Beta release that allows the user to do the following:

• Search for specific benchmarks by benchmark number and keywords
• Retrieve benchmark general details
• Retrieve examples and remarks when available
• Link to the online version that has more information
• Submit resources to CPALMS Resource Repository

What Will Be In Future Versions?

QuickConnect will eventually include all the information on the www.FloridaStandards.org. This includes approved resources from CPALMS, course information, course descriptions, and access points. QuickConnect will prompt you to update each time there is a new release of the applications. You can start using the Beta version today and approve updates each time a new release comes out.

How Will I Be Notified Of Future Versions?

QuickConnect will automatically check for new versions every time you open the application. Whenever there is a new update, QuickConnect will prompt you to check your wish to update your version.

Installing QuickConnect on Several Computers?

This is the recommended solution for IT personnel installing QuickConnect on many computers at the same time. QuickConnect runs on the Adobe Air platform. This requires that you install Adobe Air prior to installing QuickConnect. Here are the steps and links to manually install QuickConnect:

• Step 1: Install Adobe Air from: http://get.adobe.com/air/


• Step 2: Download and install QuickConnect from: http://www.cpalms.org/RemoteApplication/Air/quick_connect.air

Step 1: Email Sign Up

Step 2: Click on "install now" Below

Step 3: Install Adobe AIR™

Click "Yes". QuickConnect runs using Adobe AIR. If you have problems loading Adobe Air, please visit www.adobe.com and install it. Your computer might skip this step if you already have AIR installed.

Step 4: Downloading Application

Please wait for a few minutes before you click on "Try Again" while the application downloads the necessary files. The application might take a few minutes based on your internet speed. Once the application finishes downloading, you will see the following screen:

Click "Install" to start with installing the software. You might require administrative access to continue.

Step 5: Settings & Preferences

Check all boxes and "continue". Check all the check boxes and choose the location to install the application. The default location is within your program files.

Step 6: License Agreement

Click "I Agree" to continue or "Cancel" to decline.

Step 7: Installation Progress

You do not have to do anything on this screen. The application will install by itself and closes when the process is complete.

Step 8: Complete

Congratulations! You can start using QuickConnect. To access it again, you just need to go to your programs list or the icon on your desktop.
